8.     Activities since inception :

        (a) Education : Under this sector following sub activities have been incorporated –

            Mark Decker Scholarship Program

Since inception the Mission has given priority to educational sector by helping new students for getting admission to different Institutions.  The Mission has also started to give financial assistance to needy students.  Later it developed as Mark Decker Scholarship Program.  Under this program the Mission has given stipend to 13 needy monk-students in 1998 and 18 students in 2003.  Due to financial crisis for some year we couldn’t give stipend to many students, but it is still continuing.  Under this program last year2010 we could give only two students.

              Pre-School & Primary Education ( Nursery to IV ) :

200 students are enrolled here at Bodhisukha School.  The demand so increasing Mission is not been able to accommodate all the incoming students. Besides, there are community demands to serve so many dis-advantaged students coming from local as well as from other States and Countries. Small accommodation services, accompany only few of them. We are expecting, the number of students will be increasing even more after full completion of our Hostel-cum School Building.   And so the students will get much more benefits/services.

               Formal School Education :

180 students are here admitted in classes from  V to X. These students are mainly belongs to poorer category of population ( Minority Muslims, SCs, STs and Economically under developed General Castes ).   We provide them quality education with much thrust on literacy, numeracy, social and cultural concept promotions among the students and guardians specially the mothers. These services, the parents compared at the existing infrastructure and being discouraged on the performance on that ground, they enrol the students under our care.

               Teacher’s Training :

The involved 12 teachers are brought under training to increase their capacity to handle students, undertake modern methodology of teaching & creation of fearless teaching & learning environment, so that students can courageously grasp the tasks and matters brilliantly.

               English Training :

45 Trainees from India and abroad – Bangladesh, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand participated in this English training residential courses for one month.

Excursion of Bodhisukha School

Russa Road Young Buddhist Student Literacy Mission is running a school since 2001 with initial assistance from Buddhist Relief Mission of USA.  The school by the name of Bodhisukha School is now giving education to 180 students enrolled in different classes.  As a mark of its seventh year completion, the school is going to organize annual excursion on 20th December 2007.  Students, guardians, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and travel agents are cordially invited to participate in the annual excursion of the year 2007-08.

Bodhisukha School is an English Medium School, giving high quality education, but charging very nominal charges to the students.

The school is very much delighted to give opportunity to the students to experiment themselves during the excursion.

Its our pleasure that community are honouring our performances / achievements.

Beside Meditation classes being regularly held for children. India is a land where there was always an influence of an intrinsic human power which we acquire from meditation. This is a process which dates back to the ancient ages. In Pali (ancient Indian Language) Meditation is known as Vipassana. By practicing Vipassana, the power to develop the concentration of mind in turn helps in doing well in life. It is a therapy to bring in peace and tranquility of mind. As our mind and body are closely related, the healthy mind transmits healthy stimulation to the body.

         (b) Health Care :

Preventive Health Care : Its an activity through which We taught peoples to undertake role to be healthy physically as well as mentally. As We believe that prevention is better than cure. As per our experience, We can prevent 60% of our diseases through awareness, timely protection & care initiatives. So We taught both mother and child regarding the same.

Besides, We undertake an ancient but modern methodology of curing our ailments through Herbal Medicine therapy. We have undertaken an activity to educate community about different herbs, its uses in combating lots of chronic ailments which is low cost, handy, available at closest in the locality as well as most importantly side-effectless.

We also take care of the health of the adolescent. The children of this age are given awareness on that along with necessary training to meet and handle the circumstances.

         (c) Women Empowerment & Economic Self-Reliance :

In our Society, not only in Indian context but also it’s a universally true that women are been made commodities in our subjective world, made them much more vulnerable where they have every right to leave like we all human being expects. They are deprived. We never acknowledge their role in our family as well as in the whole society.

As per the Beijing Conference Resolutions, We have undertaken several activities to change their socio-economic status, along with a target to build organisation of women through the formation of their Self-Help Groups, Capacity Building to increase their self skill of combating their issues, grasp the power of accessing required services as available in the infrastructures.

Besides, leadership training,  small business promotion to undertake economic activity to involve them in their self-managed, self-controlled income generating programmes. Thus 250 SHGs are already encouraged to undertake such activity and financed under MFIs initially through inter-lending, capitalising local savings. Now We are trying to link with other MFIs, Banks, Ministries and Corporations.

Contacting Ministries of Textiles to undertake the Insurance Scheme – Rajiv Gandhi Shilpi Swasthya Yojana through ICICI Lombard Scheme. Through our 6 States, We are trying to deseminate informations and encouraging women SHGs to undertake the same services.

         (d) Economic Development :

Under this activity We are undertaking the followings :

(i)    Promoting exercises in understanding poverty & needs of increasing peoples participation.

(ii)   Livelihood Promotion through land/man/community resource.

(iii)  Incorporations  of Vocational skill Promotion for more Self-Employment opportunities.

(iv) Undertaking promotion of Handicraft Artisan’s Skill, supporting them to develop Designing Skill based on Market Demands, linking them with Markets through the Organisation of Melas / Exhibitions held Nationally and Internationally. Our Project States are culturally dominated with Handi-crafts skills. But the involved populations are deprived here. So We have undertaking role to involve them in this movement so that they became enable to own, run and control their business and benefit them through its income rather than hijacking income by the middle man.

         (e) Culture & Integration :

As you all are aware that our 6 (six) States are dominated by SCs, STs, Minorities and other backward communities. Here nature and culture have made well designed society where lack of integration has created lots of differences and restlessness environment. But the culture never signifies with the present developments. Our Organisation so undertaking to promote the sense of integration, generate sense of hijacked/ruined culture through survey, study, promotion and development for mainstreaming them with convergence action of opportunities of Socio-Economic developments.

         (f)  Rural / Urban Development :

In spite of rapid growing worlds invasions, trends of urbanisation, We can’t ignore a fact that until or unless we develop rural life, the Nation became under developed. It’s a big balance, certainly rural development facilitates the development of urban sector.

So our Organisation keeping a good balance in undertaking the development of the both. So along with the development of  urban populations, We have been keeping contact with the various national and international organisations to extend this support for Rural Development. CAPART, an organisation under Ministry of Rural Development, has been communicated in this concern.

Keeping in view of the above development, We have initiate an activity where lots of foreigners came to see our activities and participate in our meditation programmes. Indian Airlines, ITC, ITDCs are sending participants F,  pre also through our limited resources trying hard to undertake promotional Rural

(g) Rural Tourism Promotion :
